What are the responsibilities and job description for the Weed Control Technician position at COUNTY OF ELLIS?
Job Purpose and Objectives:
Performs manual work in vegetation control and eradication of weeds, trees, and brush on county right of ways and other county properties.
Essential Functions:
1. Operates single-axle and tandem-axle sprayer trucks
2. Sprays infected areas with chemical solutions
3. Patrols designated areas to locate noxious weeds
4. Assists in the office in the absence of office personnel
5. Performs computerized chemical sales and advises public on proper usage rates and concentrations
6. Completes reports and forms as required
7. Performs routine vehicle and equipment maintenance
8. Operates computerized rate-controlled and GPS-monitored single-axle and tandem-axle sprayer truck
9. Operates tractors, mowers, and other related equipment for mowing on county right-of-ways
10. Removes trees and brush from county right-of-ways operating saws, chippers, aerial lift trucks, and other related equipment
11. Enforces and maintains compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and ordinances
12. Performs other duties as assigned or deemed necessary
13. Complies with all organizational and departmental policies and procedures
14. Operates all job-related equipment, machinery, tools, and other aids as required or needed
15. Protects and maintains any confidential information, whether oral, written, or electronic
