General Statement of Duties
This position is responsible for carrying out civil processes with writs of execution, possession, restitution, and ejectment; coordinating and conducting Sheriff’s sales in personal and real property; coordinating paper service with civil process server.
Classification Summary
The principal function of an employee in this class to oversee the civil processes including serving writs of execution, possession, restitution, and ejectment as well as functions of accounts payable and is back up to warrants / records division / distraint warrants. The work is performed under the direct supervision of the Chief of Administration and the County Sheriff. Considerable independent judgement is granted to this position, within the established guidelines. The principal duties of this class are performed in a general office environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Establishes, implements, and monitors the application of operating systems, procedures, and processes.
- Carries out civil processes with subpoenas, summons, writs of execution, possession, restitution, and ejectment, as well as sheriff’s sales in personal and real property sales.
- Conducts Sheriff’s personal and real property sales, including meeting notification and publication requirements, securing safety and condition of property to be sold, collecting bids, and recording bills of sales.
- Prepares and maintains reports, records, logs, correspondence, and documents.
- Prepares Expenditure Claim Forms (Bills) for the Sheriff’s Office to submit to the Commissioners.
- Pays over all monies from civil fees, garnishments, and bond money.
- Performs other related duties as required.

- Utilization of court-related documents
- State and local laws related to criminal and civil, adult and juvenile crimes.
- Employee recruiting, training, supervision and evaluation techniques, methods, and objectives
- The court system and how it functions.
- The operation of personal computer and various software applications for word processing, Windows, and AS400 (ERP).
- Modern office practices and procedures.
- English grammar and punctuation.
- Various filing and record keeping systems.

- Operate a calculator, copy machine, scan snap and other modern office equipment.

- Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with County policies and procedures and safety practices.
Acceptable Experience and Training
- High school Diploma or GED equivalency,
- 3 years experience in Civil Processing preferred,
- 3 years experience in AS400 Program/Software preferred,
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
Special Qualifications (where appropriate)
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Valid State of Idaho driver’s license.

Monday through Friday from 7:45 am to 4:15 pm with a one-hour lunch break.
