The Fresno County Department of Behavioral Health invites applications for the position of Deputy Public Guardian I. Incumbents investigate the financial, social and medical background of individuals referred for conservatorship under the jurisdiction of the Public Guardian's Office; manages the personal care and financial assets of conservatees; and performs related work as required.

Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree that is acceptable within the United States' accredited college or university system.
 
License: Possession of a valid Class "C" driver's license, or equivalent.
 
Other: As a condition of employment, pursuant to California Probate Codes 1456.2 and 2923 incumbents shall comply with the continuing education requirements that are established by the California State Association of Public Administrators, Public Guardians and Public Conservators.

SELECTION PROCESS:

Pursuant to Fresno County Personnel Rule 4 - Selection Process, applicants may be required to complete an examination process and successful candidates will be placed on an employment list effective for a minimum of 3 months and certified in final rank order as vacancies occur.

  • The eligible list for this recruitment may be extended up to 12 months and may be used to fill both extra-help and permanently allocated positions. 
  • Individuals selected for extra-help appointment may be transitioned to a permanently allocated position at a later date as authorized by the Fresno County Personnel Rules. 

REASONABLE ACCOMMODATIONS:

Positions in this classification are in Medical Group III - Heavy Physical Activity (Personnel Rule 8). This group includes positions which require heavy physical effort using arms, legs, back and trunk in frequent lifting, pushing, or pulling objects weighing (or offering resistance equivalent to) over 25 pounds. Generally, considerable bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, reaching, as well as standing and walking are involved. Physical stamina is usually required and explosive strength using bursts of energy may be required, depending upon specific position assignments.
