POSITION: Van Driver I
DEPARTMENT: Transportation
SALARY: Pay Grade 10 – SEIU $14.52/Hour
HOURS: Monday – Friday
Hours vary
37.5 hours per week
BENEFITS: Full benefits after 90-days probation
OVERALL OBJECTIVE:
Transport clients to and from destinations in a helpful and respectful manner. Obey all state and federal laws directed to the safe operations of department vehicles.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Must participate in the Drug Testing Program.
2. Must have the physical ability to handle wheelchairs and lift up to 75 lbs.
3. Must perform daily pre-trip inspections.
4. Responsible for prompt time sheet submittal.
5. Driver is responsible to advise operations coordinator of any and all problems that arise with any vehicle they are assigned.
6. Drivers will legibly complete all daily logs, gas slips and any other required paperwork assigned to them.
7. Drivers must comply with all State and Federal Laws in accordance to MATP, Shared Ride Disabilities Program and other funding source of the department.
8. Drivers will assist in verification of client’s age and signatures as required, when needed.
9. Driver is responsible for keeping a clean and presentable vehicle as a representative to the public.
10. Driver is responsible for fueling the van when needed. Cleaning the vehicle during downtime/and end of shift.
11. Driver is responsible for enforcing safety rules directed by the department for clients riding on the vehicles for the safety of all passengers.
12. Drivers are responsible for informing supervisor of any unusual highway conditions or scheduling problems.
13. Must be willing to cooperate with other staff members in job related experiences and abide by all County rules and regulations.
14. Must attend all job training pertinent to the job.
15. It is the driver’s responsibility to collect all fared from riders and fill out all appropriate paperwork for the fare collection process and turned in to the office at the end of the shift.
16. Drivers are not permitted to accept tips and gratuities.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Receives instruction and supervision in regard to daily work duties from Transportation Director and Project Assistant
SUPERVISION GIVEN:
None
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITIES:
Greene County Resident preferred with knowledge of Greene County roadways. Must have a valid PA Driver’s license with a clean driving record. Operate mechanical lift to transport disabled clients in a safe manner.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Act 33, Act 34 and FBI clearances.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment and ongoing DOT physical.
