The Greenville County Department of Public Safety Forensic Division is seeking a highly motivated and dynamic professional to work in the exciting field of forensics. Join the largest governmental forensic laboratory located in the growing Upstate of South Carolina. Greenville County is seeking a Criminalist under general supervision to conduct serology and DNA analysis on evidence recovered at crime scenes. This position is responsible for providing opinions and evaluations of evidence in an investigative capacity; preparing documentation reflecting the analysis and conclusions of the examiner; preparation of evidence to be used at trial; provide explanation of analysis procedures and conclusions in court as an expert witness; and researching and evaluating new procedures and analytical methods for implementation in the DNA Laboratory. Applicant must possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited academic institution or the equivalent in a biological, chemical or forensic science with credit in genetics, biochemistry and molecular biology or other subjects which provide a basic understanding of the foundation of forensic DNA analysis as well as statistics and/or population genetics as it applies to forensic DNA analysis. Two years' experience as a DNA Analyst preferred. Applicant may be required to obtain a law enforcement certification, other certificates and licenses as determined by the Assistant County Administrator for the Department of Public safety. Must possess a valid Driver's License. Clear FBI/SLED background; good credit report.
