What are the responsibilities and job description for the LONG RANGE PLANNING MANAGE I (URBAN DESIGNER) position at County of Greenville?
Under supervision of the Longe Range Planning Manager, may perform general and specialized planning studies with the goal of guiding orderly development in the County and its sub-areas, including community and area plans, corridor studies, feasibility studies, master plans, strategic plans, as well as zoning ordinance and land development regulation text amendments, to support the County's Community, Area, and Comprehensive Planning Program; will develop goals/objectives for projects, along with implementation strategies, and will write/design the final product; will develop landscape, streetscape, and urban design proposals; performs research related to demographics and other socioeconomic data; works closely with community groups, organizations, and associations to information and educate residents about growth and development within their respective communities, develop goals, objectives, and implementation strategies, and establish a vision for each community; liaises with internal and external stakeholders, governments, and non-profit agencies to coordinate and collaborate on multi-jurisdictional plans and projects. Provides staff support to project managers in the development of neighborhood, community, and/or area planning projects. Attends and participates in community meetings, workshops, and public forums; solicits input and feedback regarding community needs; research and prepares demographics reports, maps, graphics, PowerPoint presentations, and other materials; prepares Community Plan document. Participates in preparation, update and review of County Comprehensive Plan; updates and maintains records regarding public comment and input; coordinates community meetings, workshops and public forums, providing logistical support and equipment management. Performs other related duties as required. Bachelor's degree in planning, landscape architecture, urban design, geography, real estate development, or related field required; supplemented by one year of experience in urban or regional planning; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid South Carolina Driver's License.
