What are the responsibilities and job description for the TRAINING AND EXERCISE PROGRAM COORDINATOR position at County of Greenville?
Coordinates, conducts and evaluates emergency preparedness training exercises; coordinates with department and County staff and local, regional, state, and community groups to develop, coordinate, and execute community-wide disaster drills, exercises and training programs; establishes training exercise and program objectives; organizes, schedules, and coordinates appropriate emergency management and preparedness courses and seminars; develops disaster drills and exercise objectives, scenarios, and evaluation standards; coordinates logistics, such as schedule, human resources, equipment, facilities, location, etc.; conducts debriefs and after-action reviews of drills and exercises and prepares and submits related reports and improvement plans. Assists in developing and implements plans, procedures and systems to ensure an efficient and effective preparedness and response to major emergencies and disasters throughout the County; participates in the development of emergency plans; researches potential risks and makes mitigation recommendations; assists with planning, implementing, and evaluating the response to various disaster drills and exercises; and assists with the coordination of emergency response and disaster recovery efforts across various groups, businesses, agencies, and other personnel within the County. Responds to major/critical incidents and/or disasters; implements emergency response and disaster recovery plans as appropriate; requests and directs volunteers as needed; assists with making determinations about evacuation and/or sheltering; coordinates with various agencies to obtain assistance and additional resources for County response and recovery operations; facilitates communication of employees, citizens, volunteers, and local government agencies; and conducts after incident reviews and assessments. Ensures compliance with local, state and federal rules, regulations and standards concerning emergency management preparedness training and exercise programs; collects, maintains, analyzes and interprets data; provides recommendations to command level decision makers; and participates in the notification of operational emergency response organizations and activation of public notification systems; performs other related duties as required. Bachelor's degree in emergency management, Homeland Security, Public Safety, or a related field required; supplemented by three years of experience in emergency preparedness and response training, public safety, or closely related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid South Carolina Driver's License. May be required to obtain and maintain various training certifications as deemed necessary.
