Duties Summary
This recruitment is for a full-time, exempt position with the Office of the County Clerk.
This position is primarily responsible for assisting the County Council and executive Administration in drafting legislation and maintaining the County Charter and the County Code.
This position is exempt from civil service and selected person for the position will be appointed by the Council Chairperson.
(Appointment may be made at any rate within the salary range advertised above at which appropriate qualified applicants can be recruited. Starting salary will be based on the qualifications of the person selected.)

Examples of Duties
- Assist with the drafting of bills, resolutions, and proposed amendments.
- Review new drafts of legislation.
- Review and proof revisions to the County Code, County Charter, and Council Rules of Procedures, for accuracy with enacted amendments.
- Review and proof the County Code for editorial, stylistic, and grammatical consistency.
- Provide research as requested by the County Clerk, Deputy County Clerk, or other legislative specialists.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
A combination of education, experience, and qualities substantially equivalent to:
- Graduation from an accredited university or college with a baccalaureate degree in public or business administration, journalism, communications, political science, history, philosophy, economics, or a related field.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and willingness to learn.
- Three (3) years of work experience in government administration or operations, public or business administration, economics, or a related field.
- Proficient with standard office computer software (Adobe Acrobat; Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook) and experience with standard office equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, exercise judgement, perform research and navigate different sources of information.
