General Statement of Duties

Assists in carrying out programs for persons with intellectual disabilities or chronically mentally ill clients; does related work as required.
Essential Duties
Please come join a dynamic team doing great things with people with cognitive and developmental disabilities. Duties include working in a variety of locations and activities including engaging individuals in community activities, working part time on mobile crews, and participating in day activities at Hermitage Enterprises. Flexibility and willingness to work independently at times are key. This is a great entry level position. Training will be provided but those with experience and training will be preferred. Knowledge of person-centered practices, helping people learn independence and participating in work and community activities are also of benefit. Knowledge of Medicaid waiver is helpful. Duties also include documenting activities in our electronic health record.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school and one (1) year of human services experience, preferably in working with persons with disabilities; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

TB test; A criminal history record check and fingerprinting is conducted on all persons conditionally offered employment, including a conditional offer of initial employment, or a conditional offer to promote, demote, or laterally transfer an employee.
Possession of a valid Virginia driver's license. Requires fingerprint and criminal-records check. Some positions in the class may require possession of a valid Virginia Commercial driver's license, with endorsements and without restrictions.
May require a pre-employment and/or annual physical examination and/or medical tests administered by Henrico County Employee Health Services, the components of which are based on and appropriate to the specific sensory and/or physical demands of the given
position, or on standards established by the State of Virginia.
