Basic Function and Distinguishing Characteristics
Under the direction of the County Fire Marshal, plan, organize a wide variety of technical work in the analysis, application, and education and training of fire safety protection and prevention principles and practices; provide technical assistance to firefighters assigned to Prevention duties.
Education and Experience / Licenses and Other Requirements
Any combination equivalent to : high school diploma, or general equivalency diploma (GED), and two years of related experience in planning and or providing fire and safety inspection. Or Associate degree in Fire Technology and or Science and one year of related experience in planning and or providing fire and safety inspection.
Valid California driver's license. Valid certificate issued by the California State Board for Fire Services for Fire Prevention Officer I must be obtained within one year of employment.
Supplemental Information
A valid driver's license may be required at the time of appointment and employees may also be required to drive their own vehicle and provide proof of liability insurance as per Vehicle Code VC § 160020. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
This position may require pre-employment drug test, physical examination, and fingerprinting for a background investigation.
