JOB TITLE: Adult Misdemeanor Probation Officer
DEPARTMENT: Jerome County Adult Probation
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Performs independently under the general supervision in the chain of command of the Chief Probation Officer and Board of County Commissioners.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
ESSENTIAL
* Supervise and manage a case load of adjudicated adults
* Work with local law enforcement, treatment providers, Prosecutors Office, and other agencies
* Must carry a firearm and maintain qualifications; conduct field visits
* Attend court as needed
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
* Ability to perform under pressure
* Ability to communicate with clients and co-workers effectively both orally and in writing
* Ability to pass a background check prior to hire
* Ability to attend and complete Idaho Adult Misdemeanor P.O.S.T academy within one year of hire date
* Ability to conduct drug testing
* Ability to type and navigate computer programs
* Ability to maintain confidentiality
* Able to work odd hours and occasional evening hours
EXPERIENCE PREFERRED
* Must be minimum of 21 years of age
* Bachelor’s degree in Social Science, Criminal Justice or equivalent training or job experience in adult probation is preferred.
* Must be a U.S citizen to attend POST.
