The Environmental Services Worker provides a clean and safe environment for Brookside Care Center and Willowbrook Assisted Living residents and staff. Under general supervision, performs cleaning and sanitizing of resident households and employee workspaces.

2025 Hiring Range: $17.63 - $20.03 per hour
Work Schedule
Full time, 40 hours per week
Typical work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM and occasionally 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM; may be subject to change
Must work alternating weekends and holidays
Duties and Responsibilities
Dust, mop, sanitize, vacuum, clean windows and blinds, and rearrange furniture for residents
Clean resident bathrooms including showers
Vacuum vents on walls and ceilings
Clean public areas
Complete unit cleans for new residents and deep cleans as assigned
Adhere to infectious control policies and wear personal protective equipment (PPE)
Stock utility room or cart with housekeeping supplies daily as needed
Treat carpet stains and report to maintenance; carpet cleaning may entail proper usage of disinfectants and use of PPE to protect self
Empty garbage bins collected from garbage chutes and dump into compactor outside
Provide Nursing Assistants with chemicals needed for cleaning tubs, wheelchairs, spills etc. in janitor closets when housekeeping staff is not available
Occasionally perform laundry duties: gather and exchange full linen carts to each hall, retrieve empty laundry carts to restock, deliver clean linens to other departments, and unload clean linen carts after delivery to restock linen carts for the next day delivery schedule; may require the use of PPE to protect self from soiled and possibly harmful contaminates
Push residents in wheelchairs when asked to be transported inside the building
Be courteous, considerate, and cooperative when communicating with all guests, team members, clinical support personnel, and client personnel
Perform other work as required or assigned
Success Factors
Knowledge of:
Cleaning/sanitizing techniques and the chemicals required for the task at hand
Infection control standards and hazard communication methods, including proper donning and doffing of PPE
Basic computer usage
Ability to:
Operate and use mops, brooms, janitorial equipment, vacuums, carpet cleaners, floor scrubbers, and chemical dispensers
Prioritize tasks so that all job functions can be completed daily
Remain flexible and change or add to workload
Work with and understand the needs of other facility departments with residents
Understand and follow oral and written instructions and assignments
Communicate effectively with residents, staff, and guests
Remain professional and courteous at all times
Maintain confidentiality requirements
Keep up in a fast-paced environment
Work respectively in a diverse and inclusive environment
Job Requirements, Education, Training and Experience
High school diploma or GED equivalent
General housekeeping experience preferred
Or any combination of education, training, and experience which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the job

Push/pull up to 70 horizontal force pounds for long distances

The successful candidate for this position will be required to comply with the Center for Medicare & Medicaid regulations and Brookside Care Center’s mandatory vaccination policy in healthcare facilities. Proof of vaccination will be required as a condition of employment unless an individual obtains an approved medical or religious exemption.
