The Kenosha County Parks Division is accepting applications for
Long-Term Seasonal Parks Maintenance Workers
to work at one of the several County Parks for the 2025 season.

Under general supervision, long-term seasonal Parks Maintenance Workers are responsible for maintaining a clean and orderly park. We are looking for staff who can maintain a safe environment, enforce rules, and consistently act in a manner that earns and merits the respect and confidence of patrons.

2025 Hiring Range: $15.00 - $22.00 per hour
Hiring Bonus
A Kenosha County seasonal Park candidate who is successfully hired and employed for at least 30 days shall be awarded a $200.00 bonus to their paycheck.
Long-Term Seasonal Perks
Pesticide Applicator License: Employees who complete the Wisconsin Commercial Pesticide Applicator test to obtain the Turf and Landscape (3.0) and/or Aquatic (5.0) certification as part of the job may have associated fees paid up front.
Chainsaw Safety Certification: Employees are eligible to participate in an annual chainsaw safety course.
Clothing Allowance: Employees are eligible for a clothing allowance of up to $300 annually to be used on qualifying work-related gear.
Paid Time Off (PTO): Employees may be granted two days of PTO at the start of each season beginning with their third consecutive season of employment. Certain conditions apply.
WORK SCHEDULE
Long-term seasonal employees generally work from March through November, based on weather and other factors
Work hours are typically 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM
Work days include weekends and holidays
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Mow and maintain turf in parks
Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on small and midsize equipment
Operate all vehicles and equipment as assigned
Perform general maintenance of buildings, park grounds, flower beds, athletic fields, parkways, and dog parks
Assist in forestry operations, including tree removal
Haul and transport equipment
Apply herbicides and pesticides
Remove snow – plow and shovel
Perform other duties as required or assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS, EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Must be at least 18 years old at time of application
High school diploma or GED equivalent
One year work experience in maintenance of any of the following: parks, facilities, roadways, construction, or golf course
Must possess a valid driver’s license at time of hire and maintain during incumbency, with acceptable driving record
Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B (no air brake restriction) preferred
Current Wisconsin Commercial Pesticide Applicator: Turf and Landscape certification preferred

Knowledge of general maintenance work with the most efficient utilization of equipment
Knowledge of the operation of construction and grounds equipment
Knowledge of the use of small hand tools and cleaning equipment
Knowledge of safety precautions and procedures applicable to maintenance equipment
Ability to accept, understand, and follow written and/or verbal instruction
Ability to work with limited oversight on projects and daily assignments
Ability to work in confined spaces
Ability to work independently to meet deadlines
Ability to perform semi-skilled and skilled tasks outdoors related to grounds and facilities maintenance
Ability to maintain positive interactions with the public, employees, and others, using effective communication skills
Ability to work respectfully in a diverse and inclusive environment

Seasonal employees are automatically enrolled in this program if they do not meet eligibility criteria for the Wisconsin Retirement System (pension). The FICA Alternative plan replaces the payment of FICA tax and instead contributes a percentage of pre-tax wages into an investment account for the benefit of the employee.
