Job Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading overdose epidemiology and programming with Kent County. This includes co-chairing the Kent County Opioid Task Force (KCOTF) to address the continuously growing opioid epidemic with community partners, coordinating, and facilitating the Overdose Fatality Review (OFR), and assisting with the management of the opioid settlement. Work will focus on continuing current surveillance efforts to characterize morbidity and mortality related to overdose in Kent County and sharing data reports with community partners. Work will include identifying evidence-based practices while coordinating prevention, harm reduction, treatment, and recovery activities; assessing progress towards goals, and organizing and facilitating community groups.
Other duties will include continuing oversight of naloxone distribution and education, in addition to efforts to improve access to recovery services. Will prepare and deliver data reports and presentations to community stakeholders, the general public and other constituencies. Will identify potential sources of program funding and develop funding proposals.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Public Health, Epidemiology, Bio-medical Statistics, or a related field and four years of progressively responsible and demonstrably successful epidemiology experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Master's degree in one of the aforementioned programs strongly preferred.
Must possess a thorough working knowledge of the principles and practices of epidemiology, the etiology of communicable and chronic diseases, applied statistics and quantitative analysis, the principles and practices of research, research design, and group processes. Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to interact positively with people from widely diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
Experience in meeting facilitation, consensus building, strategic planning, and managing overlapping and competing deadlines preferred.
