What are the responsibilities and job description for the Extra Help Legal Intern position at County of Lake?
Under close supervision within the office of County Counsel, District Attorney or Public Defender, to learn and perform a wide variety of professional legal work and legal research; assist in the preparation of trial briefs; work under the direction of licensed attorneys, receive training in various County department functions and procedures, and perform related duties as assigned.
EXTRA HELP – TEMPORARY WORK ASSIGNMENT
An individual may be hired as Extra Help Employee for a temporary work assignment at such compensation as determined by County of Lake personnel rules and regulations.
**SEASONAL EMPLOYEE:
An extra help employee who works a seasonal job (tied to an actual season, not just part-year) for a portion of the year and who will not perform any work for the County for at least 26 consecutive weeks between seasons definition is subject to future change as terminology is further defined by the ACA.
Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate valid California driver's license.
Education and Experience:
Have been accepted into, and be enrolled in, the second, third or fourth year of law school in good academic standing or have graduated from law school, subject to the time period limitations specified in the rules adopted by the Board of Trustees of the State Bar;

- Extra Help Employees are paid only for hours worked.
- Extra Help Employees are entitled to legally mandated benefits, which does not include paid vacation or holidays.
- Extra Help Employees do not have status.
- Extra Help Employment is temporary and may end at any time.
**SEASONAL EMPLOYEE:

- Employees must be terminated for the 26 weeks that they are not performing any work.
- This position will be working 40 hours/week from April - October each year
