Performs responsible clerical and bookkeeping work in support of effective and efficient Magistrate's Court operations, including the preparation and maintenance of accurate court records. Provides professional and courteous customer service at all times.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Generates criminal case files and civil filings. Performs case preparation, research, and maintenance for court proceedings. Collects and receipts fines, fees, and costs payable to the court.
Prepares case files through data entry and court processes. Interacts and assists with the general public, defendants, victims, attorneys, law enforcement, bonding companies, and judicial staff. Prepares and updates court dockets and assists Judges in court proceedings. Records the dispositions of criminal and civil cases adjudicated by the court. Schedules additional hearings as needed. Generates arrest and bench warrants. - Prepares, coordinates, and verifies with detention center staff and court personnel to discharge defendants. Prepares case file transmittals to the proper court locations and receives transmittals from other courts. Generates and balances daily deposits.
Answers the telephone; screens callers; provides information as requested or forwards calls to appropriate staff person; takes messages as necessary; greets and assists office visitors.
Organizes files and verifies records are current or in good standing. Prepares files for preliminary hearings, pre-trial hearings, bench trials and jury trials. Interprets and prepares necessary paperwork for circuit court orders. Coordinates and assists in court proceedings for DUI Court.
Prepares monthly criminal and civil financial balancing dockets. Prepares documentation regarding unpaid fines and properly notifies the Department of Motor Vehicles for driver's license suspensions. Compiles case statistics for quarterly reports. Coordinates and assists in court proceedings for Preliminary Hearing Court. Processes all expungement orders and notifies all proper agencies for destruction of records.
Prepares year end fiscal audit and ensures compliance. Completes annual survey of case load summary. Verifies all bonding licenses are up to date and in compliance with the Clerk of Court. Compiles and organizes all court records regarding the retention schedule.
Assist in training new employees. Attend training classes when available or necessary for maintaining certifications.

Performs other similar duties as required.
Additional Requirements:
Applicant Must Possess or obtain a SC Notary Public within 3 months of employment.
