GIS Specialist

About the Position:
Marquette County is seeking a highly motivated GIS Specialist to serve as the lead technical resource for the County's Geographic Information System (GIS). In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, updating, and advancing the County's GIS and related systems using ESRI and other industry-standard tools. Qualifications:
Education:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Geography, Cartography, GIS, Computer-Aided Mapping, Surveying, or a related field.
OR
- A GIS Certificate combined with 1-3 years of hands-on experience using ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, and related technologies (Field Maps, Web AppBuilder, Experience Builder, Python) will be considered.
Preferred Experience:
- Proficiency with ESRI software (ArcGIS 10.3.1, Arc Server 10.3.1, ArcPro Fabric 2.9.0).
- Experience working with SQL, SQL Server, and database management.
- Understanding of coordinate systems, Public Land Survey System, legal descriptions, GPS, surveys, and aerial photography.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and improve the County’s GIS system and databases, including system design, troubleshooting, and data updates.
- Assist the Land Information Director with fulfilling State and Federal data reporting requirements, including the Statewide Parcel Map Initiative and U.S. Census Bureau surveys.
- Provide technical support and GIS-related guidance to County departments to ensure system compatibility and effective use.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of the County’s Enterprise GIS system, including tax parcel management.
- Manage GIS data for compatibility with Sheriff’s Department systems (Spillman and NG911).

Work Environment:
- Primarily office-based with minimal noise levels.
- This position is considered low-risk for bloodborne pathogen exposure.

About Marquette County Land Information Department:
We are the County’s central hub for land information data, supporting departments, residents, and partner agencies with accurate mapping and GIS solutions. Knowledge of surveying, mapping, property listing, title work, and assessing is a bonus.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $24.11 - $26.94 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
