IMPORTANT: SR-22 (Appointment may be made at any rate within the salary range from $63,096 to $76,788 per year at which appropriate qualified applicants can be recruited). Assists in the design and development of transportation projects and planning initiatives conducted by the Maui Metropolitan Planning Organization (Maui MPO). Supports the periodic update of all Maui MPO federally regulated products such as the Long-Range Transportation Plan (LRTP), Transportation Improvement Program (TIP), Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP), Public Participation Plan (PPP), and Title VI Plan. Assists with all Maui MPO community engagement activities, in-person and virtual. May act as liaison between the Maui MPO and other external organizations. May be assigned to attend other County of Maui departmental meetings, and state and federal agency and stakeholder meetings. Provides support and information to Maui MPO Technical Advisory Committee and Policy Board members. Performs other related duties as assigned.

The following are examples of duties the omission of specific duties statements does not preclude management from assigning such duties if such duties are a logical assignment for the position.Assists in the design and development of transportation projects and planning initiatives, involving, transit-oriented development, complete streets, greenways, TIP projects, and other planning areas;Analyzes and utilizes social, economic, demographic and physical data and reports and recommends proper zoning, land uses, building types, remedial course of action, etc.;Plans and supervises the conduct of data collection surveys necessary for sound planning;Participates in the preparation of technical reports, maps, graphs, etc., necessary to support or illustrate plans;Interviews governmental and business officials for factual information, judgments and opinions related to the assigned study;Oversees and/or conducts public engagement activities to solicit community input on planning activities; Evaluates data or new concepts from technical journals, bulletins, books, etc., and prepares interpretive reports on their application to local situations;May act as liaison between the department and any external planning group involved in an assigned project; andParticipates in Maui MPO Technical Advisory Committee and Policy Board meetings.Performs other duties as assigned.
