What are the responsibilities and job description for the Legal Secretary/Receptionist – FT - Prosecuting Attorney’s Office position at County of Midland, Michigan?
Under the supervision of the Administrative Supervisor – Prosecuting Attorney, performs a variety of clerical support functions for the department, includes greeting visitors, communicating with defense counsel and victims of crime and defendants, receiving and transferring telephone calls, providing information, and taking messages. Performs other clerical support functions including preparing discovery pursuant to court rules, preparing body cam footage for dissemination, requesting information from outside resources, data entry, copying, and maintaining files and court exhibits.
Associate’s Degree or equivalent with additional training in secretarial science or a similar field and two years of experience in providing clerical and administrative support; preferably in a legal office or court environment. Valid Michigan Vehicle Operator’s License. Knowledge of the principles and practices of general office procedures. Ability to learn local, state, and federal laws, rules, and regulations governing the clerical requirements of a prosecutor’s office. Ability to learn State of Michigan court system procedures and practices. Skill in maintaining detailed and accurate records, and managing case files in both electronic and non-electronic format. Skill in the use of office equipment and technology, including Microsoft Suite applications and court-related and state software, and the ability to master new technologies.
Current salary range starting at $21.33 - $27.79/hr (7-year progression) with a competitive fringe benefit package.
