What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanical Engineer Trainee position at County of Monmouth?
- MECHANICAL ENGINEER TRAINEE
Under direction, performs routine engineering work involved in the design, construction, inspection, and maintenance of electrical, HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems in County government buildings; does other related work.
EXAMPLES OF WORK:
• Assists in preparation and review of plans and specifications.
• Assists in preparation of as-built plans and other reports.
• Assembles and compiles field notes.
• Conducts office and field surveys, inspections, investigations, and tests involved with mechanical and electrical engineering projects.
• Assists in the preparation of cost estimates for design and construction.
• Prepares requisitions for equipment, materials, and supplies.
• Prepares reports containing findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
• Assists in all aspects of administration of facility related capital improvement projects; from the preparation of documentation utilized to retain a design professional through the final close-out of the construction contractor’s contract.
• Maintains engineering and related records and files.
REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
EXPERIENCE:
Entry-level through five years of experience in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
LICENSE:
Appointees will be required to possess a driver’s license valid in New Jersey.

Salary : $50,000 - $60,000
