GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Jail administrators, performs a variety of maintenance and repair tasks at the main jail, dormitory and related facilities and grounds. Supervises inmate(s) assigned as trusty in basic maintenance tasks. Performs maintenance and repair tasks such as repairing or replacing plumbing fixtures, maintaining air handler units, replacing ceiling tiles, and replacing light fixtures and ballasts. Performs maintenance tasks in a high security environment requiring control of tools and equipment.
Age and Citizenship: Must be at least 18 years of age and a United States Citizen.
Education: A High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Skills in electrical, plumbing, heating ventilation, air condition and other building trades required.
Drivers License: The applicant must possess a valid operator’s license.
Drug Testing: Applicants will be screened for the use of illegal controlled substances. This testing will be completed after the conditional offer of employment.
Good Moral Character: Possess a good moral character as determined by a favorable comprehensive background investigation covering school and employment records, home environment, and personal traits and integrity. Consideration will be given to all criminal and civil law violations as indicating lack of good character.
Experience: Four years of prior building maintenance experience with demonstrated mechanical aptitude with door and locks, mechanical, heating, cooling and ventilation systems.
Other Requirements: Ability to become a Certified Locksmith.
