What are the responsibilities and job description for the IT Security Specialist I position at County of Nassau?
1, Prevents, monitors, detects, investigates, and responds to cyberattacks and cybersecurity concerns.
2. Assists incident response and forensic activities related to computer security incidents.
3. Utilizes specialized computer investigation tools, techniques, and procedures for cybersecurity.
4. Collects and seizes evidence and maintains chain of custody of said evidence.
5. Assists with digital forensic analysis.
6. Assists with malware analysis.
7, Uses security information and event management (SIEM), intrusion prevention system (IPS), and intrusion detection system (IDS) tools to monitor, detect, analyze, and respond to security threats.
8. Acts as security operations center (SOC) to monitor, detect, analyze, and respond to security threats.
9. Monitors, detects, analyzes, and responds to denial of service (DOS) attacks.
10. Drafts technical reports and summaries for cyber security concerns and incidents.
11. Maintains security and compliance on all County directories and cloud platforms.
12. Educates personnel about computer safety and promotes security awareness and security protocols, including data loss prevention (DLP).
13, Assists with disaster recovery and business continuity planning and implementation.
14. Coordinates cybersecurity testing and mitigating vulnerabilities. 15, Assists with network packet and traffic analysis.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Training and Experience
Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university, including or supplemented by eighteen (18) credits in a computer field with at least six (6) cybersecurity credits; and
Six (6) years of satisfactory, paid experience, which must have included: two years working with and supporting industry-standard network hardware, software and protocols that must have included designing and implementation, and four years experience working with and supporting industry standard servers, network storage, and desktop systems.
NOTE: Experience, as outlined above, in excess of the four-year requirement, may be substituted for college education, on a year-for-year basis.
