GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The purpose of this position is to provide custodial services in maintaining County buildings in a clean, orderly, and safe manner. This position performs cleaning duties and informs management of repair needs.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

- Collects and disposes of trash and debris.
- Collects, sorts, and disposes of recyclables.
- Provides general custodial maintenance of assigned county buildings and facilities.
- Performs various custodial duties in restrooms such as cleaning sinks, toilets, and urinals.
- Restocks all paper products in restrooms.
- Vacuums and cleans carpet floors.
- Sweeps and mops tile floors.
- Cleans interior and exterior windows.
- Assists with moving and/or disposal of furniture and equipment as directed.
- Notifies management of needed repairs and supplies.
- Maintains County owned vehicle and notifies management of any concerns with vehicle.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Knowledge of cleaning materials and methods for proper use of chemicals and materials.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to prioritize tasks.
- Knowledge of general custodial and lawn maintenance procedures.
- Physical abilities to perform duties.
- Knowledge of County guidelines and procedures.
- Ability to operate cleaning tools, accessories and equipment.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or equivalent, and six (6) months of related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:
Required: Valid driver's license.
Preferred: None.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The work is heavy work which requires exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
This position has the following special vision requirements: close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less); distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more); color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors); peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up or down and to the left and right when vision is fixed on a given point); depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships); adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus).
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in a demanding indoor and/or outdoor work environment; may encounter noise, weather, extreme temperatures, moisture, humidity, dust, odors, fumes, gases, poor ventilation, vibration, electrical hazards, chemical hazards, or bio-hazardous waste. In the performance of their duties, employees may be required to use personal protective equipment such as face masks, goggles, boots, gloves or eye shields.
