Role Overview
Performs skilled custodial work cleaning and maintaining County buildings, grounds and facilities and related work as required. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Administrative Services Manager.
Role Description
- Performs daily cleaning of County buildings
- Cleans employee offices and conference rooms
- Cleans and disinfects restrooms in County buildings; replenishes paper supplies and soap as necessary; cleans clogged drains in sinks and toilets; cleans kitchen area including stove and refrigerator.
- Sweeps, strips, waxes, buffs, mops and vacuums floor surfaces; spot and deep cleans carpet.
- Cleans windows, walls, woodwork and light fixtures.
- Empties trash receptacles; cleans and dusts tables and other furniture.
- Performs landscaping maintenance duties such as picking up trash and debris; assists with snow removal and ice control.
- Monitors and inspects buildings for maintenance deficiencies; reports deficiencies to maintenance staff.
- Performs additional related tasks as required.
- Ideal candidate will be expected to work Monday - Friday 7am - 4pm.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of building cleaning practices, supplies, and equipment and ability to use them economically and efficiently; ability to understand oral and written directions; ability to read and write; physical ability to perform heavy manual work; ability to work independently; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with citizens and County staff.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent and 1-2 years related experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Requirements
This work requires the frequent exertion of up to 10 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force; worker is frequently standing, walking, speaking or hearing, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling, lifting and repetitive motions and occasionally requires sitting, using hands to finger, handle or feel, climbing or balancing and stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling; work requires close vision, distance vision, ability to adjust focus and peripheral vision; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires using of measuring devices, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work occasionally requires wet, humid conditions (non-weather), working near moving mechanical parts, exposed to outdoor weather conditions and wearing a self contained breathing apparatus; work is generally in a moderately noisy location.
