What are the responsibilities and job description for the OADC SUMMER REC OUTREACH WORKER position at County of Orangeburg?
The purpose of this job is to instruct and tutor student’s ages 5 to 12 years old in Math, Science, Social Studies and English Language Arts, and Arts and Crafts. Also coordinate recreational programs.
This class works under close to general supervision according to set procedures but determines how or when to complete tasks.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Prefer College degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; Knowledgeable in Math or English, Language Arts with three to five years related experience.
Reasoning Ability, Mathematical and Language Skills:
Technically savvy and experience with various systems. Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize in order to meet short deadlines. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to assist with behavioral based interviewing. Excellent listening and interpersonal skills. Must have the adaptability and flexibility to change dependent upon the environment. Must be comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and have the ability to exhibit professional maturity.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Physical Demands:
Performs light to medium work that involves walking or standing virtually all of the time and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or considerable skill, adeptness and speed in the use of the fingers, hands or limbs in tasks involving close tolerances or limits of accuracy.

- Supervise conduct of children attending the program
- Plans and develops educational recreational program.
- Sets up equipment in classrooms.
- Provides educational instruction to students.
- Maintains cleanliness in the classroom and bathrooms by sweeping and mopping floors, and dusting furniture and equipment.
- Teach social skills.
- Coordinates youth activities such as (Basketball Leagues, Football, Baseball, etc.).
- Provides academic feedback.
- Attend to preschoolers when accidents occur.
- Communicates with parents daily.
- Performs administrative functions such as record-keeping, organizing, attendance records, grading, evaluating assignments, designing bulletin boards and distributing materials.
- Teaches PE/recreational classes.
- Supervises student conduct.
- Performs other duties and related work as instructed and assigned.
