Transportation Supervisor

The Department of Public Works is currently seeking a Transportation Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of the Transit Division.

This position involves planning, organizing, and directing transit systems, delegating employee workload, conducting performance evaluations, and utilizing various tools and methods to perform technical tasks. The ideal candidate will be highly skilled in the transportation field and have excellent leadership abilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and direct daily transit operations, ensuring efficient and safe service delivery.
• Delegate tasks and responsibilities to employees, providing guidance and support as needed.
• Conduct regular performance evaluations to assess employee progress and provide constructive feedback.
• Utilize various tools and methods to perform technical tasks related to transit operations, including scheduling, dispatching, and vehicle maintenance.

Requirements

• Candidates must possess three years of increasingly responsible experience in transit system operations or a related scheduled transportation activity.
• Equivalent to a high school diploma or higher, with additional training in supervision desirable.

Licenses and Certifications

• Possession of a valid Class A or B driver's license with passenger endorsements and no air brake restrictions.
• Mass Transit Training Certificate issued by the Transportation Safety Institute or California Department of Education, obtainable within one year of employment.
• Verification of Transit Training (VTT) certificate issued by the California Department of Motor Vehicles, obtainable prior to completion of probationary period.

Desirable Qualifications

• Possession of valid CPR and First Aid certificates.
