We are seeking a highly skilled County Highway Department Engineer to join our team at the County of Rockland. As an Engineering Specialist, you will be responsible for leading the county's highway department engineering efforts.
Your duties will include coordinating field surveys, inspecting construction projects, and providing technical support for CAD and engineering software. You will also oversee the conversion of paper-based records to digital databases, and ensure compliance with CAD standards.
In this role, you will act as liaison between departments to resolve technical issues, and supervise the work activities of technical engineering staff. Your responsibilities will also include gathering data for GIS systems, reviewing proposals for work associated with survey and construction projects, and completing designs for small-sized projects.
The work is performed under the general supervision of a Highway administrator, and you will receive guidance and support from senior staff members.
- An Associate's degree or two years of college credit in Civil Engineering, Surveying, Forestry, Landscaping, Architectural Technology, or comparable curriculum, and five years of technical experience in civil engineering.
- A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Landscaping, or Architectural Technology, or comparable curriculum, may be substituted for four years of experience.
