Job Overview:
The County of Rockland seeks a highly skilled Professional Engineer to lead the development and implementation of comprehensive sewer system management plans. This is a full-time position that requires a strong understanding of engineering principles, particularly as related to wastewater treatment and sewer construction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise the design and preparation of plans for alteration and addition to or enhancement of wastewater treatment plant and pumping station facilities and equipment, sewer system components, buildings, grounds, and roadways
- Evaluate technical and economic need for rehabilitation, upgrading, or expansion of District facilities, buildings, grounds, roadways, etc., and provide detailed analyses for consideration by the Board of Commissioners
- Plan, develop, and direct engineering programs and activities relating to sewer and sewer plant construction
- Monitor and coordinate contractor and subcontractor schedules among projects and with the Sewer District's operations and maintenance activities
Requirements:
- A Professional Engineer's license (PE) issued by the State of New York and two (2) years of post-license engineering experience in the design and construction management of wastewater treatment plants, sewer lines, pumping stations, and/or related facilities
- Possession of a valid driver's license and ability to pass pre-employment medical examination and medical clearance for the use of respiratory equipment
