DESCRIPTION: Under direction, performs variety a of routine maintenance/repair tasks either singularly or in any combination thereof in the following fields: masonry, plastering, carpentry, painting, plumbing, steam fitting, sheet metal, electrical, glazing, and mechanical; does related work as required.

EXAMPLES OF WORK:
- Performs the routine work involved in creating concrete structures.
- Constructs and finishes simple forms.
- Mixes and pours cement and aggregates.
- Repairs brick and concrete structures.
- Repairs plastered walls and ceilings.
- Prepares and paints interior and exterior surfaces consisting of metal, wood, and masonry.
- Performs general plumbing services such as replacing washers and gaskets.
- Repairs leaks in pipes and stoppages.
- Repairs roofs, drainboards, rainspouts, and so forth, using general sheet metal techniques.
- Performs general electrical maintenance such as replacing light bulbs, fuses, wall plates, switches, and fixture cards.
- Replaces broken glass.
- Performs general maintenance on equipment and vehicles such as changing lubricants and refueling.
- Cleans tools and equipment.
- Maintains records.
- Fires and maintains low pressure boilers.
- Performs routine operation checks on blowers, motors, and regulators, and reports malfunctions immediately.
- Will be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and computerized information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.
LICENSE:
- Applicants must possess a current, valid Black Seal Boiler Operator License of the appropriate type (high or low pressure) issued by the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development.
- Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
RATE: $24.06 per hour, 40 hours per week.
