Job Summary
The County of San Diego is currently accepting applications for the position of
HEALTH INFORMATION MANAGEMENT CLERK
Interviews will take place the week of March 10, 2025.

This position is eligible for appointment at Step 1, $43,721.60 annually. County employees are subject to the County Promotion Rule for Step Placement in Accordance with Compensation Ordinance 1.3.5.
ABOUT THE POSITION
Health Information Management Clerks maintain the vital records and health information records of patients, residents, clients, and / or inmates in detention facilities, mental health facilities, skilled nursing facilities, acute care hospitals, clinics, public health departments, or doctor's offices. Health Information Management Clerks are responsible for maintaining automated and manual record systems including patient and disease indices, birth and death records, and admission and discharge records in accordance with Federal and State laws.

The current opening is seeking a candidate with bilingual English / Spanish oral and written skills.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Six (6) months of full-time experience maintaining medical records of inmates, residents, clients, or patients in a correctional or detentions facility, behavioral health facility, skilled nursing facility, acute care hospital, clinic, or doctor's office within the last two (2) years; OR,
- Possession of a certificate, diploma, or other verifiable proof of completion of a Regional Occupational Program or other vocational educational program for Medical Records Clerk, Medical Assistant, Medical Administrative Assistant, or a closely related field within the last twelve (12) months; OR,
- Completion of at least sixteen (16) units of coursework in the Health Information Technology program, and / or relevant coursework from an accredited U.S. community college or university, or certified foreign studies equivalency within the last two (2) years.

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT
