The County of San Diego has a current opening for Senior Auditor. 

This position may have a teleworking and/or flexible schedule available after an initial training period.

Auditors are responsible for conducting integrated financial, performance, information technology, and compliance audits and advisory services for County departments and other authorized non-County entities in accordance with professional auditing standards and applicable laws and regulations. Based on investigative findings and facts, Auditors provide advisory services on a routine basis and prepare and provide management with written reports and recommendations.

Senior Auditors plan and lead the most difficult and complex audits and advisory services engagements and may supervise a team of internal auditors.

INTERVIEW AND HIRING DATES


The timeline for this recruitment is outlined below:     

  • Interviews, Job Offers and Background Process begin in February 2025. Note: Current County employees may be excluded from additional background screening. 
  • Pre-employment Medical Screening: Approximately 3 days following successful background investigation results.
  • Anticipated Start Date: Start date will be based upon successful completion of medical screening or other mutually agreed upon date.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency in accounting, finance, business administration, or a closely related field, AND,

  1. Two (2) years of experience as an Auditor II with the County of San Diego; OR,
  2. Four (4) years of professional experience performing financial, performance, compliance, or information systems audits.

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT

As part of the County of San Diego’s pre-employment process, prospective candidates will undergo a background check (including fingerprinting) and a pre-employment medical screening prior to beginning County employment. Additional types of background investigations may be conducted based on the job-related activities of the position. Current County employees may be excluded from this process.
