San Mateo Medical Center (SMMC) is a public hospital and clinic system fully accredited by The Joint Commission. The Medical Center operates outpatient clinics throughout San Mateo County and an acute-care hospital in San Mateo. The mission of SMMC is to "partner with patients to provide excellent care with compassion and respect." As part of the San Mateo County Health System, the Medical Center serves the healthcare needs of all residents of San Mateo County, with an emphasis on education and prevention.
SMMC is seeking a qualified Radiologic Technologist I / II / III. We are looking for someone with the ability to perform all standard / routine radiographic procedures. Candidate must also be able to perform or be able to be trained in performing procedures in at least two specialized diagnostic areas in an efficient manner. Candidate must be able to work independently in providing a full range of varied shift coverage that includes PMs, Nights, Weekends and Holidays. You must be able to gain cooperation of patients in order to obtain high quality images. In addition, you should have the ability to work with patients of varying ages. Mammography and / or Computerized Tomography (CT) scanning experience is strongly preferred.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS Radiologic Technologist I ($46.91 - $58.64 Hourly) is the entry level class of this series performing all standard and routine radiographic procedures and may be trained in more complex procedures and specialized functional areas. Incumbents may promote to the II level upon demonstrated competence in either mammography or invasive fluoroscopy procedures.
Radiologic Technologist II ($49.62 - $62.04 Hourly) is the journey level class of this series performing all standard and routine radiographic procedures and procedures in at least one specialized diagnostic area. Incumbents may promote to the III level upon demonstrated competence in either mammography or invasive fluoroscopy procedures and one additional specialized area.
Radiologic Technologist III ($52.42 - $65.54 Hourly) is the advanced journey level class of this series performing all standard and routine radiographic procedures and procedures in at least two specialized diagnostic areas. Alternately, the III level can also be used for staff working independently in providing a full range of off shift coverage.

- Perform radiographic examinations of varying difficulty by positioning the patient and programming proper exposure factors and table movements.
- Select proper techniques to produce quality images while keeping dose low.
- Provide radiation protection in accordance with prescribed standards.
- Does portable radiographic work in Surgery, Intensive Care, Emergency Department, Medical / Surgical Inpatient Units and the Morgue.

Open & Promotional. Anyone may apply . Current County of San Mateo and County of San Mateo Superior Court of California employees with at least six months (1040 hours) of continuous service in a classified regular, probationary, extra-help / limited term positions prior to the final filing date will receive five points added to their final passing score on this examination.
The examination process will consist of an application screening (pass / fail) based on the candidates' application and responses to the supplemental questions. Candidates who pass the application screening will be invited to a panel interview (weight : 100%). Depending on the number of applicants, an application appraisal of education and experience may be used in place of other examinations or further evaluation of work experience may be conducted to group applicants by level of qualification. All applicants who meet the minimum qualifications are not guaranteed advancement through any subsequent phase of the examination. All examinations will be given in San Mateo County, California and applicants must participate at their own expense.
