The Human Services Agency is seeking highly qualified candidates for the Senior Utility Transport Specialist.
Under general supervision, either assign, direct, and review the work of a small group of Utility Workers or trainees performing a variety of manual tasks such as transportation of materials, supplies, or trainees; set up catering events; assisting with fleet management and operation of the laundry in a locked facility maintenance; or, perform highly specialized tasks in the coordination of work requests and assignment of work orders and/or semi-skilled tasks in conjunction with skilled trades personnel.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Leads act as the working lead and assign, direct, and review the work of a small group of employees or trainees performing similar work. This is not considered a supervisory class in that the final authority for selection, evaluation, and corrective action of employees is not assigned to this level and the number of employees for which direction is provided is limited.
Specialists perform highly complex, difficult, or technical and semi-skilled tasks in conjunction with skilled trades personnel or specialized tasks in the coordination of work requests and assignments of work orders. Positions in this class have a definable body of knowledge and skills which exceed those required by Utility Worker I/II and is not learned on the job in a brief period of time. Assignments require the use of independent judgement and initiative. Lead direction of others is not a regular part of the job, although project or relief leadership may be required. This class is distinguished from Utility Worker I/II in that Seniors are responsible for providing a full range of lead duties or highly specialized tasks as outlined above.Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Provide lead direction, training, and work review to a small group of employees, inmates, clients, or other staff.
- Organize and assign work, set priorities and follow up to ensure coordination and completion of assigned work.
- Provide input into selection decisions, performance evaluations and corrective action matters.
- Perform difficult or complex work and assist with special projects as assigned.
- Make minor repairs to doors and latches, dig trenches, prepare and wash walls or ceilings, cover floors and furniture, assemble and take down scaffolding, set up tables and chairs, set up event umbrellas and shade equipment, tear down walls, and clean up jobsite.
- Operate and maintain equipment or hand tools used in the maintenance of buildings, grounds, and facilities.
- Operate special equipment and vehicles.
- Fuel vehicles as required and report the need for service repair.
- Operate the Fleet Commander fleet management system.
- Lift, move, load, and transport materials, supplies, furniture, heavy equipment, records, mail, money, food or waste materials.
- Perform functions necessary to the operation of a laundry in a locked facility.
- Coordinate work requests and assign staff or work crew to job.
- Maintain logs, coordinate work requests, and perform related office support tasks.
- Order, receive, and maintain inventory of supplies, tools, and equipment.
- Perform assignments of a Utility Worker I/II.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Knowledge of:
