Compensation
$241,363.20 - $294,037.12 Annually
25% ADDITIONAL PAY
Psychiatrists who occupy a position in Custody Services (Adult and Juvenile) receive an additional twenty five percent (25%) in addition to the annual compensation range.

Graduation from a recognized school of medicine with a degree of Doctor of medicine.
Possession of a valid license to practice medicine in the State of California.
Possession of a valid certificate or eligible for certification in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
Certificate of graduation from an American, Psychiatric Association approved residency in psychiatry.
Sufficient experience in a clinical, consultative, or a teaching setting which demonstrates a thorough understanding of psychiatric assessment, medical procedures and requirements and a broad understanding of a wide variety of mental health needs and services and possession of the knowledges and abilities listed below:
Experience note: This employment standard normally represents three years of clinical consultative or teaching experience in a psychiatric setting.
Knowledge of:
- The principle of supervision;
- Medication management;
- The current principles and methods of diagnosing and treating mental disorders, contra indications and adverse reactions to common psychiatric medications;
- The function and use of support treatment staff;
- The preventive aspects of mental illness including consultation and education techniques.
- Medically supervise and evaluate professional competence of assigned staff;
- Maintain effective working relationships with staff;
- Diagnose a full range of illnesses common to the population served and to prescribe and administer treatment;
- Maintain the confidence and cooperation of patients.
