POSITION OVERVIEW: The Case Manager/Forensic Interviewer provides case coordination for children referred to the Child Advocacy Center, facilitates referrals for forensic interviews, forensic medical exams, advocacy, mental and behavioral health services; conducts forensic interviews and participates in peer review and ongoing education and training; and supports family members to act in the best interest of the child victim.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

Any combination equivalent to education and experience that provides the required skill and knowledge is qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, or a closely related field.

· Two or more years vocational experience working directly with children and families.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have:

· Knowledge and understanding of the dynamics of childhood sexual and physical abuse and the impact of this abuse on victims and their families.

· Knowledge and understanding of child development and the impact of trauma.

· Ability to work cooperatively with CAC staff and the multidisciplinary team including child protection, law enforcement, prosecution, victim services, mental health providers, medical providers, and the court system.

· Ability to prioritize and work independently

· Demonstrate effective listening and communication skills.

· Proficient computer skills required in Microsoft Office.

· Well-organized and detail-oriented.

· Willingness to seek out supervision or assistance from CAC staff or other relevant organizations

· Knowledge and understanding of cultural diversity and ability to exhibit sensitivity in dealing with people of varied backgrounds, beliefs and abilities.

· Must respect and maintain confidentiality.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Conduct forensic interviews of alleged child abuse victims utilizing a national protocol in forensic interviewing

· Participate in forensic interview peer review and journal club

· Testify in court regarding forensic interviews conducted as necessary

· Perform the intake function for referrals from law enforcement and child protective services, gathering background information and coordinating the scheduling of interviews, medical evaluations, and other CAC services as deemed necessary

· In absence of the advocate meet with/contact the non-offending family members prior to forensic interview, inform family of process, review and complete paperwork, and introduce child to interview room, audio/video equipment, and observation

· Maintain open communication with all team members, prepare monthly case review meeting agenda, and actively participate in or facilitate Multi-Disciplinary Investigative Team (MDIT)case review meetings

· Conduct Outcome Measurement System (OMS) surveys with caregiver, youth, MDIT and track/report data

· Make referrals to community agencies and mental health services by working collectively with partnering agencies to facilitate services

· Follow up with families and community agencies regarding the appropriateness of referrals

· Prepare monthly invoices for services as directed

· Gather, enter, and maintain ongoing detailed case data, spreadsheets, and agency statistics in NCAtrak and CAC case tracking system

· Assist with collection and dissemination of data for reports and case tracking

· Assist in the development and maintenance of social media platforms and activities

· Assist with coordination and facilitation of CAC presentations to various community organizations and audiences

· Assist with development and facilitation of community outreach and education training on child abuse, human trafficking and prevention

· Assist with maintaining order, cleanliness and basic sanitization of the CAC, as needed

· When needed provide care and supervision of children while caretaker(s) meet with MDIT members at the CAC

· Participate as needed in outreach and/or community events that may occur in the evenings/weekends

· Be available for emergency after hour forensic interviews

· Assist the Director with grant writing and data tracking/reporting.

· Participate in agency and/or community teams as requested by the Director

· Participate in initial and ongoing professional training related to forensic interviewing, human trafficking, advocacy, prevention education, child abuse and CAC/Multidisciplinary protocols that may occur locally, out-of-town/overnight.

· Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director

Selected applicant must pass a Child Abuse Clearance, Criminal Background Clearance, and FBI Clearance prior to employment start date. Applicant must possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
