This Storekeeper position is responsible for ordering, receiving, storing, and delivering materials and equipment throughout the Human Services Department (HSD), including accounting for supplies and inventory levels, tracking and assigning various materials, and filing out and editing various paperwork and HSD documents. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Using computer and software programs to create, edit, and print documents
  • Delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining positive vendor business relationships
  • Setting up workstations and building out material packets
  • Evaluating items for use, surplus, and/or disposal
  • Ensuring compliance with safety standards
  • Operating between multiple sites within the Sonoma County

The ideal candidate will possess many of the following:

  • Experience managing inventory and accounting for supplies
  • An aptitude for assembling both mechanical and non-mechanical items
  • Experience filling out orders, issuing materials, and rotating stock
  • The ability to work independently to get a wide variety of tasks accomplished
  • Strong communications skills, both orally and in writing, with the ability to work with varying personalities
  • The drive to deliver exceptional customer service
  • Critical thinking skills, with a solution-oriented approach to solving problems
  • The ability to shift gears quickly in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office

The performance of these duties often requires the exertion of substantial physical effort. Incumbents may be required to bend, stoop, reach, and remain standing for extended periods of time.

This recruitment is being conducted to fill a Storekeeper position in the Human Services Department. This employment list may also be used to fill future full-time, part-time, or extra-help (temporary) positions as they occur during the active status of the list. Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience: Any combination of training and experience which would provide the opportunity to acquire the knowledge and abilities listed. Normally, one year of experience as a shipping and receiving or stock clerk would provide this opportunity.


License:
Possession of a valid driver's license at the appropriate level, including special endorsements as required by the State of California, may be required depending upon assignment to perform the essential job functions of the position.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Working knowledge of: the procedures and techniques of receiving, storing, issuing and delivering supplies, material and equipment; general characteristics of various commodities including familiarity with specifications, major sources of supply and approximate prices; stock control systems; safety rules, regulations and procedures related to receiving and storage activities and equipment; and, the clerical and record keeping procedures related to shipping, receiving, storage and issuing of materials, supplies and equipment; construction, maintenance, and repair of office furnishings; hand tools and power tools used to build and repair furniture and equipment.


Ability to:
organize and maintain a departmental storekeeping function; establish and maintain adequate inventory controls and record keeping systems; accurately and neatly complete forms and records; spot discrepancies between items received and purchase order, packing slip or property record form; coordinate, schedule and prioritize work; utilize hand and power tools to build and repair furniture and equipment; perform routine arithmetic calculations; deal courteously with individuals contacted in the course of work; operate a light vehicle; perform tasks which require physical strength and agility; and read, write and speak English at the level required by the duties.

The selection procedure will consist of the following examination:

An Application & Supplemental Questionnaire Appraisal Examination (weight 100%) will be conducted to evaluate each applicant's application and supplemental questionnaire for satisfaction of minimum qualifications (pass/not pass); and for educational coursework, training, experience, knowledge, and abilities which relate to this position. Each applicant will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
  • Relevance of work history, related experience, and achieved level of education and/or training as described in the application and responses to the supplemental questions.

Candidates demonstrating possession of the minimum qualifications will be placed on an employment list in order of most qualified to least qualified based on the achieved score received in the Application & Supplemental Questionnaire Appraisal Examination which evaluates the education, training, experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, and other qualifications that you demonstrate in your application and/or response to the supplemental questionnaire. Please be aware that resumes and cover letters are not typically evaluated in the Application & Supplemental Questionnaire Appraisal Examination. Scores may be adjusted based on such factors as the number of candidates, anticipated vacancies, past practice, and natural breaks in the scores achieved by this group of candidates.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

A background investigation is required prior to employment.
