What are the responsibilities and job description for the Administrative Assistant (Confidential) position at County of Tehama?
The Tehama County Administration Department is looking for an organized and focused Administrative Assistant (Confidential). Under direction, this position performs a variety of specialized and confidential administrative, secretarial, and clerical work for the Department of County Administration, including coordinating assigned programs and projects, providing general information to the public, and other administrative, financial recordkeeping database, and support work. The incumbent fosters cooperative working relationships among County departments and acts as liaison with various community, public, and regulatory agencies.

This individual is technically savvy, utilizing various software systems efficiently. Additionally, the ideal candidate would thrive working with a positive and collaborative team utilizing efficient ways to provide essential services to all individuals contacted in the course of work.
Required Knowledge of:
- Organization and function of public agencies, including the role of an elected County Supervisor and appointed boards and commissions
- Modern office administrative and secretarial practices and procedures, including the use of standard office equipment
- Business letter writing and the standard format for reports and correspondence
- Principles and practices of data collection and report preparation
Skills in:
- Planning, organizing, and executing administrative assignments and special projects related to assigned area of responsibility; maintaining accurate and detailed records; verifying accuracy of information; researching discrepancies and recording information.
- Preparing, submitting, and receiving all claims and requisitions; obtaining quotes for specialized supplies and equipment; and monitoring use and maintenance of supplies and equipment.
- Coordinating and scheduling meetings, appointments, and speaking engagements for departmental personnel, appointed boards and commissions; arranging for meeting rooms, attending meetings and taking minutes.
- Serving as a liaison, through a variety of mediums, between key department personnel and other County departments, law enforcement agencies, news media, and the general public.
- Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade, supplemented by training in secretarial skills or relevant computer software applications programs
- Three (3) to five (5) years of increasingly responsible office administrative or advanced secretarial support experience involving some public contact
- Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
License & Special Requirements:
- Require a valid California driver's license
- Current, less than 1 year old, typing certificate

Why Tehama County Administration?
We are the team who supports The Tehama County Board of Supervisors, which is the governing body of the County and certain special districts. The Board enacts ordinances and resolutions, adopts the annual budget, approves contracts, appropriates funds, determines land use zoning for the unincorporated area, and appoints certain County officers, including the Chief Administrator and members of various boards and commissions.
