The Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate should possess a strong work ethic as well as the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. This person should have strong prioritization and problem solving skills. It is required that candidates have experience (minimum of 1 year) in building maintenance.About the Position:
Under the direction of an assigned manager or designee, performs skilled and semi-skilled work in the maintenance and repair of County buildings and grounds; performs limited janitorial duties.
Salary (A-E Steps)
Facilities Maintenance Technician I
$20.91 - $25.41 Hourly / $1,672.80 - $2,032.80 Biweekly
Facilities Maintenance Technician II
$23.08 - $28.05 Hourly / $1,846.40 - $2,244.00 Biweekly
- Performs scheduled and emergency building, equipment maintenance, and repair work on County buildings and grounds.
- Installs and repairs wiring, switches, light ballasts, and other electrical systems.
- May perform diagnostic testing in order to determine maintenance needs as necessary.
- Performs light carpentry in the maintenance of assigned buildings.
- Repairs furniture, builds shelving units and assists in minor remodeling of buildings.

Facilities Maintenance Technician I | Facilities Maintenance Technician II
Any combination of training and experience which would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
Facilities Maintenance Technician I:
- Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade.
- A minimum of one (1) year experience in a maintenance related field.
Facilities Maintenance Technician II:
- Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade.
- Two (2) years of experience in maintenance related field.
LICENSE & SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Requires a valid California driver's license.
The department is recruiting for one (1) vacancy.
In addition, Tehama County is establishing an eligibility list to fill future vacancies for a Facilities Maintenance Technician I/II, as well as subsequent vacancies, which occur during the life of the eligibility list.
New employees should anticipate being hired at the beginning step of the salary range. Candidates who exceed entry level qualifications may be considered, with approval from the Board of Supervisors, for placement at other than A step.
