About the Position :
Under the direction of the Public Health Director, this position plans, implements and evaluates the delivery of Public Health programs and services. They provide supervision of subordinate staff and operate under nursing protocols and medical direction from the Health Officer.
Required Knowledge of:
- Principles, methods and procedures of nursing as applied in public health practice, preventive medicine and sanitation;
- Community aspects of nursing programs;
- Prevention and/or early detection of communicable diseases, chronic diseases, handicapping conditions, mental illnesses and other disabling conditions;
- Fiscal management principals
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
- Two (2) years of nursing experience in a public or community health setting. One (1) year of supervisory experience is desirable.
- Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- Requires a valid California driver’s license.
- Requires a valid license to practice as a registered nurse and a valid public health nursing certificate issued by the State of California.
- Must complete periodic continuing education coursework as required to maintain active licensure.
- Current CPR certification.
- Must possess or be willing to obtain a national provider identifier (NPI).
The department is currently recruiting for multiple vacancies.
In addition, Tehama County is establishing an eligibility list to fill current vacancies for a Supervising Public Health Nurse or a Licensed Clinical Nurse Supervisor (see separate recruitment), as well as subsequent vacancies which occur during the life of the eligibility list.
Testing Dates: March 14-17, 2025. Testing will be provided via email.
New employees should anticipate being hired at the beginning step of the salary range. Candidates who exceed entry level qualifications may be considered, with approval from the Board of Supervisors, for placement at other than A step.
