What are the responsibilities and job description for the Extra Help Licensed Vocational Nurse position at County of Tulare?
The Tulare County Health & Human Services Agency (HHSA) is currently recruiting for an Extra Help-Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to join the Public Health Branch.
As extra help positions become available, the Health & Human Services Agency will select the most qualified and appropriate applicant for the position available. The number of hours and duration of employment varies by each assignment. Extra help employees may work in a variety of departments in locations throughout the geographic county area. Extra help employees may not work more than 1,559 hours in any fiscal year from July to June. An extra help employee who mistakenly works in excess of 1,559 hours in a fiscal year does not become a probationary or regular employee.
Applications will be active for six months. If you are hired for extra help and you complete a work assignment and then if you wish to be employed again, you must resubmit an Extra Help application online.
There are no benefits associated with extra help positions.
The successful candidate must have the ability to maintain effective working relationships with patients, public, staff, and other departments and agencies. HHSA’s Public Health Branch, including our Public Health Nursing Programs as well as our Health Care Centers, offers a progressive and innovative working environment for our employees while providing comprehensive health care in the community. The Health Care Centers are seeking an LVN with leadership skills in a busy, multi-department facility to serve in our primary care clinics.
The ideal candidate will possess great communication and listening skills and will perform patient triage through phone, e-messaging, and walk-ins. The current vacancy will be located at the Visalia Health Center and will be focused on providing education on topics of communicable disease and family planning to patients and community health care providers.
Our Public Health Nursing Programs are seeking an LVN with leadership skills to provide clinical, case management, and outreach services for clients throughout our range of program units. The LVN classification provides office-based and field services in the Immunizations, Communicable Disease, STI/HIV, Tuberculosis, and Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) programs. Duties include direct patient care, disease intervention, case management, and education activities tailored specifically for each individual program. The current vacancy will be located at the Hillman Health Care Center and will have a primary focus in the immunizations team.Candidates must meet the qualifications listed below by the application deadline.
• Graduation from an accredited Licensed Vocational Nursing program
• Possession of a valid Licensed Vocational Nurse certificate issued by the California State Board of Vocational NursingConditions of Employment:
Candidates selected will be required to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening. Additionally, a background investigation may be conducted, which may include a
re-investigation every 10 years for some positions. An Employment Eligibility Verification using E-Verify may be required on the first day of employment for some positions. Some job classes may also require a physical exam.
