Full-Time, 80 hours per pay

A. OVERALL OBJECTIVE OF JOB
This adult court officer is a member of the County Problem Solving Court (PSC) Team and will assist with the development and maintenance of eligibility standards, operating procedures, and rules for the PSC. The officer will also screen applicants and supervise those individuals admitted to the program.
B. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF JOB
1. Completes intakes, criminal history checks and risk/needs assessments.
2. Supervises participants to ensure their compliance with court orders and conditions of supervision.
3. Prepares supervision/case plans.
4. Participates in the PSC Status Hearings.
5. Coordinates evaluations and treatment/services for the participants.
6. Investigates alleged violations of conditions governing intermediate punishment.
7. Prepares recommendations for the PSC Team.
8. Conducts office, field and collateral contacts.
9. Maintains files, spreadsheets and databases including the PAJCIS (Problem Solving Adult/Juvenile Courts Information System).
10. Prepares the schedule for, and participates in weekly meetings with, the PSC Team.
11. Prepares monthly statistical report.
12. Performs Urinalysis and Alcohol Breath testing on participants.
OTHER DUTIES OF JOB
1. Attends meetings and trainings as required.
2. Performs other job-related duties as required.
3. Participates in an on-call rotation for after hour calls.
4. Facilitates the installation of electronic monitoring equipment for participants.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Receives occasional instruction and some supervision from the Director; with additional oversight provided by the President Judge and the PSC Team.

C. WORKING CONDITIONS
1. Works indoors in adequate workspace with adequate temperatures, ventilation and lighting.
2. Moderate exposure to stress; normal exposure to noise and disruptions.
3. Normal indoor exposure to dust/dirt.
4. Works in conditions of potential outbursts or disruptive behavior of clients.
5. Travels frequently during all seasons and is exposed to outdoor elements, including snow and icy roadways.
6. Conducts field contacts with client; may carry firearm, OC pepper spray, ASP Baton, Taser and handcuffs.
D. PHYSICAL/MENTAL CONDTIONS
1. Must possess ability to record, convey and present information, explain procedures and follow instructions.
2. Must be able to sit for long periods throughout the workday with intermittent periods of standing, walking, bending, twisting and reaching necessary to carry out job duties.
3. Dexterity requirements range from coordinated movements of fingers/hands; feet/legs/torso necessary to carry out duties.
4. Sedentary work, with occasional lifting/carrying of objects with a maximum weight of ten pounds.
5. Must be able to physically and mentally react quickly in the event of a disturbance or physical outbreak.
6. Must be able to pay close attention to details and concentrate on work.
E. QUALIFICATIONSA. EDUCATION/TRAINING
Bachelor's Degree in criminal justice, administration of justice, criminology, rehabilitative science or related field.
B. WORK EXPERIENCE
None required; experience in probation/parole, corrections, law enforcement or related field preferred; OR, any acceptable combination of experience and/or training.

- Ability to pass Probation Officer Firearms Academy if opting to carry a firearm

· Must not appear on Preclusion Lists as defined by “Pennsylvania’s Medical Assistance Bulletin 99-11-05 Provider Screening of Employees and Contractors for Exclusion from Participating in Federal Healthcare Programs.”
· Must successfully complete pre-employment drug screening.
F. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
1. Must be able to speak and understand the English language in an understandable manner in order to carry out essential functions of job.
2. Must possess good communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to use Motivational Interviewing skills.
3. Must possess initiative and problem-solving skills.
4. Must possess the ability to function independently, have flexibility and the ability to work effectively with co-workers and staff.
5. Must possess the ability to maintain confidentiality in regard to client information and records.
6. Must possess the technical knowledge of operating personal computer and office equipment with accuracy and reasonable speed.
7. Must possess a valid Pennsylvania driver's license and a willingness to travel as needed to carry out essential job duties.
8. Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
9. Must possess some knowledge of basic principles/practices of social casework and the court system.
10. Must possess knowledge and ability to utilize handcuffs, shackles, breathalyzers and other law enforcement equipment in safe and proper manner.
11. Must possess ability to conduct intakes, monitor clients’ progress and compliance and complete required documentation and reports on cases as required.
12. Must possess ability to interact with social service agencies, courts, counseling centers and others in regard to clients' needs and job duties and to coordinate needed services.
