NOTE: This is a Temporary Position contingent on the need for services. Selected candidates are at-will and will not be eligible for county benefits. All assignments are based on the Growth and Resource Management's projects need and staffing requirements.
The County of Volusia is seeking a Temporary Records Technician within the Technology activity of the Growth and Resource Management Department. This position is located in DeLand, Florida, and will be responsible for records maintenance and clerical work including scanning, indexing, and organizing of various types of records. This position requires a high degree of accuracy without direct, daily supervision.

Illustrative Duties:
- Ensures appropriate daily maintenance of files in designated areas.
- Uses different databases to locate, research, and file records.
- Verifies, adds, updates, scans, and indexes information and records into automated systems.
- Assists the Records Specialist and other administrative personnel with daily tasks as needed.
- Ensures accuracy in computer entries and understands the concept of digital notes.
- Operates computer to create, review and save files for project.
- Uses various office equipment to upload, save, and prepare records for digital conversion.
- Must be detailed oriented with the ability to multi-task within established time frames.

Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or possession of a GED required, plus one (1) year of clerical experience.
The preferred candidate will have at least one (1) year of database experience, experience using Microsoft Excel and Word, and excellent attention to detail.
- Knowledge of database operations and functions.
- Knowledge of modern office equipment, practices, and procedures.
- Knowledge of research techniques.
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures.
- Ability to focus on a computer for extended periods of time and maintain accuracy.
- Ability to use judgment and discretion in the execution of duties.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public.
- Ability to perform duties effectively and with minimal supervision.
- Ability to conduct research and maintain the findings electronically.
- Ability to be punctual and work set hours needed.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including Excel and Word.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
