What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Trades Worker - Senior Show Service Associate position at County of Volusia?
The County of Volusia is seeking a Senior Trades Worker for the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, FL. This position will be responsible for skilled journeyman level work installing, troubleshooting and repairing/replacing temporary power systems for events in the Ocean Center
Note: Applicants must be willing to respond to emergencies outside normal working hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays. The primary shift for this position is a second shift from 2 PM- 10:30 PM, both weekends and weekdays.
- May perform all levels of electrical repair, replacement, renovations, and new work to include lighting, switches, receptacles, motors, various types of conduits, etc.
- May supervise small crews in assignments of electrical installation of temporary power for events and concert productions.
- May operate a computer for building control systems.
- May perform low-voltage work including cable installation and continuity testing.
- Must be proficient in the use of basic electrical equipment like voltage tester, circuit locator and digital volt ohm meter.
- May perform work found in the lower-level trades worker classifications.
- Must be able to work on call and respond in emergency situations as needed.
- May be assigned to other county locations based upon operational needs.
- Attends work on a regular and consistent basis.
- Must adhere to Federal, State, County and Local ordinances.
- Responds to emergency situations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
High School diploma or possession of GED and four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in maintenance and repair in electrical work, and mechanical work; of which one (1) year should be at Journeyman level experience in electrical.
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license at the time of hire.
A comparable amount of education, training, or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
- Knowledge of the practices, methods, materials, and tools of one or more of the building trades.
- Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
- Skilled in the use and care of tools, equipment, and materials of the trades.
- Skilled in laying out jobs with cost and material estimates.
- Ability to supervise and/or train unskilled/semi-skilled subordinate personnel.
- Ability to perform advanced complex work.
- Ability to perform work in one or more of the trades without close supervision.

Physical Demands: Medium to heavy work. Ability to see (depth perception, color, acuity), hear, stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach overhead, climb, grasp, lift, carry, pull, push up to 75 pounds.
Environmental Demands: Inside and outside work. May require exposure to inclement weather (heat, humidity, cold, rain), hazardous conditions, chemicals, dust, confined spaces and poor ventilation.
