The County of Volusia is seeking Student Special Workers for the Library Services Division. Depending on availability, positions may be located on the East Side (Daytona, Ormond, New Smyrna, Port Orange, or Edgewater) or West Side (DeLand, Lake Helen, Orange City, Deltona, or Debary) of Florida. The role will be responsible for shelving library materials, checking books in and out, and assisting with general library clerical duties. Candidates must be active high school or college students.
- Note
- These positions are temporary part-time - 10 hours per week.
- Performs library functions such as charging / discharging library items, material retrieval, shelving library materials, shelf reading (keeping items in order on the shelves), searching for reserved or overdue materials, etc.
- May be assigned to other county locations based upon operational needs.
- Attends work on a regular and consistent basis.
- Must adhere to Federal, State, County, and Local ordinances.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Must possess a valid driver's license at the time of appointment. Must possess a valid Florida driver's license within 30 days of appointment and maintain thereafter.
- Knowledge of basic techniques including shelving, numerical sorting, and alphabetization.
- Knowledge of basic computer skills.
- Knowledge of basic customer service skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, supervisors, volunteers, and the public.
- Ability to work under stressful conditions.
- Ability to interact effectively with others.
- Must be able to relocate to other county locations based upon operational needs.

Must be an active high school or college student, and at least 16 years of age.
Note : College / University students must be currently enrolled full-time (Spring semester – minimum 12 credit hours or Summer semester - minimum 9 credit hours).
