What are the responsibilities and job description for the Trades Worker/Senior Trades Worker - Parks, Recreation & Culture position at County of Volusia?
The position is located in Daytona Beach. Position is required to mobilize daily to various locations throughout the county via truck & trailer.

- May perform all levels of plumbing repair, replacement, renovation and new work to include fixtures, fittings, lines, etc.
- May perform all levels of carpentry repair, replacement, renovations and new work to include framing, paneling, ceilings, doors, windows, etc.
- May perform all levels of electrical repair, replacement, renovations, and new work to include lighting, switches, receptacles, motors, various types of conduits, etc.
- May perform all levels of masonry repair, replacement, renovations, and new work to include vertical structures, sidewalks, driveways, drainage structures, etc.
- May perform welding and small engine repair
- May perform all levels of painting applications, preparation of surfaces, scaffolding, etc.
- May perform all levels of air conditioning equipment trouble shooting, repair, replacement of components, cyclic preventive maintenance, etc.
- May perform all levels of work related to utility infrastructure for water main installs and maintenance, lift station operation, troubleshooting and maintenance, including mechanical, electrical and structural components.
- May supervise small crews in assignments of basic construction and/or maintenance work.
- May operate all associated equipment to include but not limited to medium-size weight construction equipment and vehicle (e.g. tractor, front loader, mini excavator, skid loader, dump truck, pick-up truck, and trailer).
- May load and unload trailer equipment and materials.
- May operate a computer (e.g. sending emails, using Microsoft Word and Excel).
- May input data into the county asset management system.
- May perform work found in the lower level trades worker classifications.
- Must adhere to Federal, State, County and Local ordinances.
- Responds to emergency situations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- May be assigned to other county locations based upon operational needs.
- Attends work on a regular and consistent basis.

Trades Worker: Starting $18.77/hour
High School diploma or possession of GED and two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in maintenance and repair in plumbing, carpentry, electrical, mechanical, air conditioning, painting, pipe installation and repair, concrete or brick work.
Senior Trades Worker: Starting $21.47/hour
High School diploma or possession of GED and four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in maintenance and repair in plumbing, carpentry, electrical, mechanical, air conditioning, painting, pipe installation and repair, concrete or brick work.
Experience/Training/Certifications:
Journeyman level experience in one or more of the skilled trades, (e.g. plumbing, pipe laying, carpentry, electrical, mechanical, masonry, air conditioning, painting, etc.).
A comparable amount of related education, training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
Must possess a valid driver's license at time of appointment. Must possess a valid Florida driver's license within 30 days of appointment and maintain thereafter.
- All the knowledge of the lower level trades workers.
- Skilled in performing advanced, complex work at the journeyman level in one or more of the building trades.
- Ability to supervise and/or train unskilled/semi-skilled subordinate personnel.
- Skilled in laying out jobs with cost and material estimates.
- Ability to work under stressful conditions.
- Ability to interact effectively with others.
- Must be able to relocate to other county locations based upon operational needs.
- Ability to work from maps, blueprints, schematics and mechanical drawings.
- Ability to perform work from oral and written instructions.
- Ability to perform shop math.
- Ability to write simple sentences relaying information.
- Ability to safely operate medium-size weight construction equipment and vehicles (e.g. tractor, front loader, mini excavator, skid loader, dump truck, pick-up truck, and trailer.)
- Ability to safely load and unload trailer equipment and materials.
- Ability to operate a computer (e.g. sending emails, using Microsoft Word and Excel).
- Ability to learn how to input data into the county asset management system.
ADA REQUIREMENTS:
