Votran is Hiring for an Operations Dispatcher
Hours: Must be willing and able to work any hour of service operation.
This position covers both fixed route and paratransit dispatch functions.
Operate bus over prescribed route. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Receive and respond to telephone inquiries to provide route, schedule, fare, stop and time data, the status of service for both fixed route and paratransit passengers. Prepare required reports / documentation on vehicles, detours, etc., as needed to ensure successful service delivery.
Communicate with supervisors and emergency authorities. Adjust trip schedules in computer and communicate related job assignment changes to other drivers. Make changes in vehicle assignments based on vehicle availability. Issue manifest to operators indicating times of leaving garage, stop times and locations, detours and specific instructions.
Ensure that buses leave garage on schedule and document when manifests are issued to other employees due to assigned driver unavailability. Communicate with drivers on radio regarding roll out problems, vehicle malfunctions, detours and other issues. Provide radio and time checks. Maintain tape radio monitoring system. Communicate vehicle malfunctions to maintenance and relay instructions to driver.
Must be able to obtain a CDL Class B Permit or license with a passenger endorsement.
CDL Training provided.
Computer and communication skills a must.
Criminal Background and Driver’s license checks are performed.
