COACH – Assistant Athletic
DOE - Stipend $2,790 to $3,735Immediate Supervisor: Head coach
General Responsibilities: The assistant coach for each athletic activity works under the direction of the head coach and/or the athletic director, performing tasks as may be required to assist with teaching, practicing, and competing in the particular activity.
Specific Responsibilities and Duties: The assistant coach:
• supports the head coach in philosophy, and in teaching, training, and practicing with students in the assigned activity;
• attends staff meetings when required by the head coach;
• serves as head junior varsity coach;
• assists with scouting activities at the direction of the head coach;
• assumes responsibilities and performs duties assigned by the head coach, and acts in the place of the head coach if the head coach is absent;
• obtains additional training at personal expense as required by the State Board of Education Interscholastic Coaching Standards.
Qualifications: The assistant coach must meet the qualifications identified on the attached Requirements for Coaching Athletic Activities.

- a helpful, calm, friendly, and positive manner when interacting with students, parents, and school staff;
- the ability to make reasoned decisions;
- patience with students;
- a loyal, team approach to activities;
- appropriate discretion concerning students, staff, and confidential or privileged information.
