On-call substitute positions for Para Educator and Secretary

Substitute Paraeducator  Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.- Required
• Other Education Requirements: (optional for a substitute)
  • Have received a qualifying score of 461 on the Education Testing Service Para Pro Assessment; or
  • Hold an associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university; or
  • Have earned seventy-two quarter credits or forty-eight semester credits at the one hundred level or higher at an accredited college or university
• First Aid and CPR certification. (encouraged)
• Appropriate knowledge of English grammar, spelling and punctuation; proficient in reading and math and able to assist students in these areas.
• Ability to work independently in a public and often distracting environment.
• Demonstrated experience and proficiency in use of computers for word processing, spreadsheet, and data management.
• Awareness and appreciation of diversity among individual students.
• A helpful, calm, friendly, and polite manner when interacting with students, parents and school staff;
• Demonstrated ability to make reasoned decisions and set appropriate expectations for individual students.
• Willingness to participate in activities and responsibilities assigned by classroom teachers.
• Appropriate discretion concerning students, staff, and confidential or privileged information, in accordance with state and federal laws and district policies.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate and work well with others, and especially with students.

Substitute Secretary Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in an office environment working with the public, maintaining files, and using a variety of office equipment.
• First Aid and CPR certification. (encouraged) 
• A thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling and punctuation.
• Ability to work independently in a public and often distracting environment.
• A helpful, calm, friendly, and polite manner when interacting with students, parents and school staff.
• Ability to make reasoned decisions.
• Appropriate discretion concerning students, staff, and confidential or privileged information, in accordance with state and federal laws and district policies.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate and work well with others, and especially with students.

Qualifications: Licenses/Special Requirements - Required

• Valid Washington State Drivers' license or photo identification.
• Social Security Card.
• FINGERPRINTS:   Fingerprints - WSP/FBI fingerprint/background clearance.  (Estimate fee for fingerprints is $80 at the ESD in Anacortes, clearance must be in OSPI's System)
