Job Summary:
The Adult Day Program Staff is responsible for providing direct care and support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in a structured day program setting. This role focuses on enhancing participants' quality of life through engaging activities, skill-building exercises, and community integration while ensuring their health, safety, and well-being.
Key Responsibilities:Program Support & Direct Care
- Provide supervision and hands-on support to program participants in a safe and structured environment.
- Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal care, mobility, and meal assistance as needed.
- Implement individualized service plans (ISPs) to support participants in achieving their goals.
- Monitor and document participants’ progress, behaviors, and any changes in health or well-being.
- Ensure a person-centered approach by encouraging independence and self-advocacy among participants.
Activity Facilitation
- Plan and facilitate engaging group and individual activities that promote socialization, skill development, and recreation.
- Lead educational and therapeutic programs, such as arts and crafts, music, fitness, and life skills training.
- Assist in organizing community outings, field trips, and volunteer opportunities for participants.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Adhere to all program policies, procedures, and state regulations regarding care for individuals with IDD.
- Maintain a clean and organized environment in the program facility.
- Recognize and respond appropriately to emergency situations, including administering first aid or CPR if necessary.
- Assist with medication reminders and monitoring under program guidelines.
Collaboration & Communication
- Work collaboratively with team members, supervisors, and caregivers to provide a supportive environment.
- Communicate effectively with participants, families, and guardians regarding daily activities and progress.
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to enhance professional development.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred but not required.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. and assist with mobility as needed.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Patience, compassion, and a passion for supporting individuals with disabilities.
- Must pass background checks and drug screening.
- CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
