Overview of IT Manager
The IT Manager is responsible for overseeing all technical infrastructure, software systems and its supporting staff. This includes internally and externally created software as well as determining business requirements for the recommendation & implementation of systems and processes to support the company in its corporate objectives. Because of the nature of healthcare, this position will require travel between locations, work outside of normal business hours for routine and emergency assistance, and the ability to interact with a diverse group of people from patients to executive teams. This position requires strong communication skills, organizational skills, remaining flexible, and the ability to project manage through transitions.
Responsibilities and Expectations
- Oversee IT operations and supervise systems and IT staff
- Develop strategy as it relates to the organization's IT infrastructure & Software solutions
- Consult senior-level stakeholders across the entire organization to identify business and technology needs and to optimize the use of information technology
- Ensure smooth delivery and operation of IT services by monitoring systems performance
- Create processes and standards for selection, implementation, and support of systems
- Provide direction, guidance, and training to staff
- Ensure systems design to manage and maintain data security and integrity as well as best practices
- Communicate effectively with team members to achieve project goals
- Schedule and lead meetings to identify issues and fixes for projects
- Communicate, portray, and champion IT team vision to local colleagues, ensuring our alignment in understanding and working towards meeting the goals of our organization.
- Coordinate with manufacturers, vendors, and service providers to ensure best possible outcome based on economics, schedule, and solution provided terms.
- Ensure established policies and procedures are followed and adhered to while communicating anomalies accordingly.
- Maintain accurate licensing and maintenance contracts.
- Assist with budgeting, including the purchase of new equipment and software and consequent billing review.
- Promote continued utilization of IT service management solutions.
- Installation, configuration, and deployment of software/hardware such as desktops/laptops, printers, mobile devices, etc.
- Collaboration to perform maintenance activities such as upgrades, system patching, and backups.
- Perform troubleshooting and repairs when computers or other technologies are not working as expected.
- Act as a link between end-users and higher tier advanced support as needed.
- Help lead, recommend, and implement short-term, mid-term, and long-term IT strategy in alignment with corporate goals
- Responsible for gathering, compiling, and reporting to upper-level management key metrics for network and systems availability and performance.
- Have the ability to be a technical resource to teammates as well as have the ability to perform IT tasks when required. Such IT tasks are (but not limited to); systems performance and availability, preventive maintenance, backup and restore, patching and other security measures, network changes, end user / workstation support.
- Ability to communicate clear technical instructions and requirements to third party providers.
- Understand networking and VPNs to better support, configure, and monitor the company’s internal networks
- Ability to plan and do/delegate the management and implementation of projects and upgrades.
- Assist in the creation of policies and procedures for the IT team for both internal and external processes.
- To ensure a standard of excellence and implement proper IT processes to ensure all work is performed in such a way as to minimize disruption to the business.
Qualifications
- Previous experience supporting healthcare
- 6 years’ experience in an IT Support Position I.e. IT Manager, Systems Administrator or equivalent position
- 5 years supporting corporate IT infrastructure solutions and hands-on knowledge of corporate IT infrastructure.
- Experience in network management and help desk support.
- Excellent project and time management skills.
- Solid knowledge of IT systems and applications.
- Extensive experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Thorough experience and knowledge of networking (LAN, WAN, VPN). With the experience of designing and implementing equipment such as switches & firewalls
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, Office 365 and Microsoft Windows Management and products
- Strong knowledge in configuring, administering, and maintaining Windows based environments.
- Experience designing, implementing, and supporting corporate IT systems and networks.
- Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate technical terminology to people with limited technical understanding · Proactive and solutions driven.
- Certification (ITIL, MCSA, Network , Security etc.) is a plus.
